I have personally struggled in my life when it has come to prayer. I used to think that I could tell God what I want and he should give it to me. It wasn’t until the past three years or so did I truly learn what it truly meant to pray to this awesome God. Prayer starts with truth and most of us live in some kind of lie from within. Truth can only be found when one wants to let go of the lies they are holding on too! The evil in this world wants to take our hearts and beat us down until we don’t want to find truth because that means we have to be honest within ourselves. Most people have lived in the lies for so long it would truly hurt and cut deep in order to actually reach the truth.
Prayer in the English means “a solemn request for help or an expression of thanks addressed to God”. The fact that the English language is the furthest spoken language from the original spoken language from God to man is why we get distorted meanings of things. When you dig deeper in the English you will find words like supplication, and devotion.
In the Hebrew one of the words used for prayer is “pa-lal” which is Strong’s # 6419 and means “to entreat or appeal earnestly; to fall to the ground to plead a cause to one in authority; prevent a judgment”
What I am getting at is that when I use to pray for my own selfish needs I was totally missing the point. See Yahweh (I AM) or God of my life, He is Love and in this Love He is so much more than what I could ever dream of even thinking mattered in my selfish desires. When I prayed out of selfishness He would hold back because the things I thought I wanted would had been the very things that put an even bigger wedge between Him and I. Which one of you being a loving father would give things to your kids knowing that it would only aid in further separation from them. Now that I have come to the place in my life that I understand that his word came to life in the man of Jesus the Christ and that the savior died for my sins when I am the one that deserved that death, not him, it has changed my heart. It made me realize that I had a lot to confess to this mighty creator of all things. In Matthew 7:24-29 and Luke 6:46-49, Jesus tells us of the foundations men/women build on. In order to find the rock or truth that He is, we have to dig through all the sand and lies that we have set in place. For me it took several years of being truly and brutally honest with myself. If one wants to find the rock they will, but one can’t give up when the truth starts to hurt because it hurts that is for sure. The hurt is why I ran for so long and in the process of running all those years I was constantly allowing the storms of life to knock me off my foundation every single time. WHY? Well if you haven’t read the verses I wrote above then you won’t begin to understand the truth. See we can go through life putting band aids on our hurts but the fact is the things only fester underneath and get worse in time if we don’t treat them right off the bat. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the only way to truly obtain life. Once we die to the flesh it doesn’t mean we won’t stumble in our spiritual growth, just look at the men who walked with Jesus personally. It was a growth of over 40 + years for some of them. The fact is that after you dig out all the lies and finally hit the rock then you have the beginning of the foundation that will never fail you. When you start from there you come to realize that instead of turning to your own understanding you turn to the Father with your mistakes right off the bat and standing right beside you is the savior. Jesus guides you on how to approach the Father in prayer. Jesus is my teacher and he has shown me that the book of Matthew is the blueprint for getting right with the Father. We are told Jesus is the cornerstone and if any of you understand how to build houses or structures then you know what this means. You set the cornerstone and that is where all the other measurements come from for all the rest of that structure. So in our Faith we can’t have anything match up if we don’t pull all our measurements from that cornerstone. For too long I would look at other men in order to measure my walk and it would leave me frustrated every time. Jesus is the only way to get your spiritual house built correctly. Now it doesn’t mean you shut your ears off to men/women of the world, it just means that we always test everything and take it back to the teacher or cornerstone. When we do this we can take what we have learned and then try it out when we pull it off the cornerstone. If it does not measure up right then you can throw it out or allow him to help you make the corrections for your next step. God has blessed me in life long before I understood what he was doing in me. I have been a carpenter for 18 years and in this I understand what it takes to make things work to build structures. Now I am building something so much more important. Building a spiritual house from within me and in this it has wiped out my worries and doubts. My girlfriend thinks I don’t worry enough, but she is coming to realize that my Faith has truly set me free. Of course when it comes to my kids and the people I love I will tend to stress at times. God is showing me that he has everything under control and that has made my faith stronger. It makes me go through doors that I had never dreamed of, and this is like dominoes of the spirit besides it involves my steps to make the next one fall. God gives me more revelation with every step I take out of faith. It took so long to understand how God speaks to me, but after living a life of evil and hurt for so long it was so much easier to understand the God that is always good. I don’t care what people say about me now because my actions speak for themselves. I can be easily seen that I have things to work on, but at the same time it can be seen that there is a light in me that is growing with every day. I am so excited and full of Joy when some days it would seem that this is impossible. Not for the peace that comes with the Holy (set apart) Spirit of the Father. See I can’t control anything that rages around me, but I can control if I allow what rages around me steals my Joy or not. Jesus was a boss and he was the most humble loving man the world had ever seen. WHY? God is love and in his love we were blessed with the truth of this in the life of the first begotten Son of all mankind. Adam was breathed the spirit of God into him after being formed from the ground. All other men/women to ever be born were born of the flesh and we have to come to learn the word of God. Jesus was the only man ever born with the word as the seed of growth which grew in Mary. God tells us that his word never fails and this is true. The men/women of this world just fail to accept this word, but if we do accept it then we can start to see the fact that his word never fails. We just can’t wrap our little pea brains around this truth unless we let go of the lies that we live. We have been either broken from chasing drugs, selfishness, religion, or approval of other people and thousands of other things, but no matter what the situation may be it is all covered under the blood of Jesus that he shed at the cross.
2 Tmothy2:3-4: 3- Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus 4-No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.
Jesus is the General so that military men will understand, Jesus is the light so that electricians will understand, Jesus is the treasure so that bankers will understand, Jesus is the rock so that archeologists will understand, Jesus is the cornerstone so that architects will understand, Jesus is the way so that truckers will understand, Jesus is the hope so that the broken will understand, Jesus is the truth so that Lawyers and Judges will understand, and to top it all off Jesus is the only mediator between all men/women and God, so in order to find the counseling we all need we have to hear the good news. If you have heard this good news then don’t bury it. Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus tells us what happens when we bury our talents and the truth. Prayer is talking to the Father with a pure heart and a selfless heart, and when we allow the Spirit he sends to us to do the work in us we grow beyond our wildest dreams. Each of us have a physical D.N.A. and like I have said before this I call Do Not Assume because we are letting ourselves down when we assume what the Father has in store for us. We are each weaved by the hands of God and the physical we see has and is only a shadow of what comes through the spiritual realm. If we choose to keep living in the lies then the shadow will constantly overshadow what this mighty creator has in store for us. Paul was Saul and his shadow was exactly what lead to the persecution he experienced for the Savior.
Jesus will teach you how to Ask correctly. Ask Seek Knock
Matthew 7:7- “Ask. And it shall be given to you: seek, and you shall find: knock, and it shall be opened to you”
The chapter 7 in Matthew is icing on the cake for your prayer life if you read what Jesus had told us prior to that in the book of Matthew. We can learn that the forgiveness we give others releases us to accept the forgiveness the Father has for all of us. When we pray after the foundation is set then we will slowly learn that God will give us the desires of our heart but we first have to change what the motives were in our heart to begin with. I have found that it was so much easier than I ever dreamed. God knew who I loved all along and in this walk I have learned loving others first allows them to feel love even when I don’t expect any love back from them because God is all the love I need. Now all I have to do is thank him with all my heart for being who he is, not for what he does. He takes care of all of it and I just ask him to give me a chance to be a part of furthering his Kingdom come and allow me to do His will on earth as He does in Heaven. My prayers are no longer selfish, they are selfless and Jesus has shown me that I do what I do not for pats on my back, I do them because it is the least I can do for the price Jesus paid for me.
Ephesians 2:1-3: 1-And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2-in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. 3- Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.
Paul is telling us that we are no better than anyone at any time, even when we find the grace through the savior. Notice we are all sons, there are just those who choose to try and obey, then those who don’t obey at all. This just goes back to people not knowing the truth. Religion can’t save people, neither can we who are saved already. Jesus is the one who saves, and the Father is the one who allows this change to take place. We get whole by letting go and when we do let go then we can make the connection, so Jesus can make the corrections and the Father will be the one who does the perfections. Life is awesome now because I have already died. I know that people can take my physical life but it does not have any bearing on the real life that lies inside of me. For that reason there is no fear in me. Jesus has told me in his words that the world is the walking dead without him being their truth.
Matthew 8:22- But Jesus said to him, “Follow me; and allow the dead to bury their own dead.”
So my prayer for all who read this is that you will die to who you think you are, to all the things you think you know and all the lies that have already taken root in you. I hope you allow God to use you and mold you as he will show you that all measurements will come off the cornerstone that He set. Jesus will gladly walk with a humble man and he won’t let you stay on the ground. Jesus will help pick you up when you fall and even carry you when you can’t walk at times, but He will never leave you or forsake you it isn’t in his D.N.A..
Remember that his God, his Father, is God that is who he is, but what he is, is Love. 1 John chapter 4 will help you see this.
1 John 4:8-The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love
1 Peter 1:3-Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (anointed one), who according to His (God’s) great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
I love you all and God bless you all as the Christ is with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
